Trips are fun

First off, I don't like Blockbuster. It's not because they charge a lot, or because they don't carry Director's Cuts because they don't like carrying unrated or NC-17 titles. No, it's because they sold me a stale Choco-taco. Bastards.

Steph and I just got back from a short two day trip. We went through Bodega and stopped by an old cemetary. It was really cool. Then we hit Hwy 1 and just drove north. We stopped at Fort Ross for a bit (and got in free; thanks nice ranger lady). It was really pretty there. I'd like to spend some more time there, perhaps camp. Then we kept heading north, and drove until we got tired (or at least til Steph got tired, since we took her car and I can't drive a stick yet). We ended up staying in Ft Bragg. After a quick rest at our hotel, we walked around downtown Ft Bragg. We found that downtown Ft Bragg is the most boring place on the face of the earth after 5:30. Everything is closed, including 80% of the restaurants. Sad. So we ate dinner and then got some booze and went to the hotel room and drank and watched shows about snipers and serial arsonists on the History Channel. Fun night.

The next morning, we walked around downtown Ft Bragg again, and we found that it's a much more entertaining place during the day. We found a used book store and bought a couple of books, and checked out a bunch of antique stores. Then we walked on a beach for a bit and headed to Mendocino. We really liked that town, and added it to the list of places we'd like to live in one day. We walked around town, had lunch and then walked along a cliffside. The ocean in that area is so beautiful; clear as day and blue as the sky. I really love the coast. Then we stopped at another cemetary on the way out of town, and headed on home (with a brief stop in the woods for a quick nap). It was a really nice trip, although I wish we could have had some more time to stay, and perhaps drive further north. I have to stop typing now, because Felix is being cute and jumping all over the place.
