Overheard at my local comic book store. A conversation between a 7 year old boy and his mother.
Boy (looking at Spawn action figure): Mom, I would die to have this.
Mom: Please don't say stuff like that.
Boy: But I would die for it!
Mom: Can you think of a better way of saying what you just said?
Boy: (silence as he thinks)... I would kill myself to have this!!
Mom: NO!

Welcome to the Working Week
Had to go back to work today, and while it wasn't as hard to get back into the swing of things as I thought it was going to be, I still hated being away from my wife and daughter. The three weeks off really spoiled me. At least I'll get three more weeks later in the year.
The time off made me realize how much work and other obligations really eat up my time. It was really nice over the last weeks to just be able to spend time with Steph and Kierian with out having to worry about being anywhere or worrying about getting enough sleep because I have to get up for work. I've always said that if I ever do win the lotto, that I would never fully stop working; I would work part time because I'd get bored. I take that back now.
I'm not one for New Years resolutions (I can't remember the last one I made), but I guess this year's resolution would be to not let work consume me so much and enjoy my wife and kid.
Happy New Year.

Two Weeks In
Kierian is two weeks old today. Things are going well so far. We were a little scared at first because she had a heart murmur at birth, but the cardiologist said that it's a normal murmur that a lot of babies have, and that it should go away. Other than that, we're all doing well (besides a couple of sleepless nights).
Switching topics: I know this might sound callous, but can we all get over the fact that Gerald Ford died? I mean, the guy was in his 90's for god sakes. I know he was a former president and all that jazz, but it's been on the front page of the newspaper everyday since he died. Let it go people.
End rant.
Happy New Year everyone.

Loosh lounging
This is what happens when I try to read the paper in my house. The bugger has to be in the middle of everything.

Comics Day
Stopped by Kathy's store today to pick up some comics. It had been about three weeks, so I had a ton of stuffy waiting for me. Here's what's on my nightstand now:
Y the Last Man
American Virgin
Exterminators
Other Side
Local
DMZ
Black Gas
Deadman
Girls
As you can see (if you read comics) I have a thing for Vertigo. I love almost everything they publish, and for people who think all comics is just spandex and tits, they should pick up some Vertigo titles (no guarantee that there will not be spandex and tits in there; the chance is just lower).

Moving
In the past month, there's been a lot of moving going on. My wife and I moved into a house. Unfortunately, we weren't able to buy a house, but we;re renting a two bedroom house from a close family friend that I've known for years. It's a big house with a big back yard (though the back yard needs a lot of work). Needless to say, we are very happy here. It's much better than living in a an apartment. Our cats are especially happy too (especially Orion, who has been much more social.
In addition to us moving, my wife's sister and also her parents have also moved, and let me tell you, that has been a lot of work, especially helping her parents move. I put in a 17 hour day yesterday, with work and moving combined. Needless to say, I'm fucking tired.
Things have been going well. The pregnancy has been going well, barring a couple of sicknesses for my wife. It's hard to believe that I'll be a father in about a month. Crazy shit. We just recent;y finished painting/decorating the nursery; I'll try to post some pictures of it soon.
If you haven't read Pride of Baghdad by Brian Vaughan, you need to read it. It's a great story, and the art is awesome too. Highly recommended.
